Choosing a Helmet

Technical differences.

We often get the question: what is the difference between a high-end helmet and cheap motocross helmet? The difference is mainly in the area of protection. Traditional helmets tests are kept to strict standards, but are not tested for the full range of impacts. The helmets are tested for direct impacts, while in practice an impact will often take place at an angle. In the case of an impact at an angle, a rotation will take place which can cause damage. The high-end motocross helmets therefore have a rotation damping system. In addition, good motocross helmets are often equipped with an emergency system that can be used after a crash to remove the cheek pads. After removal of the cheek pads the helmet can easily be removed from the rider.
